Baylor Gameday

Self-updating college football fan hub

A Baylor football hub built for sharing in game-week group chats: this week's opponent, kickoff countdown, betting line, head-to-head scouting report, a plain-English pregame win probability read, and rolling news. The real brief was to prove that a content page can maintain itself with no CMS and no content person.

Design Decisions

There is no database and nothing to update by hand. The site pulls schedule, stats, spreads, and rankings from the College Football Data API plus ESPN and Google News feeds, and rebuilds itself every hour all season. When the schedule advances, the entire page follows: opponent stats, news, and even the link preview image in the group chat.

The scouting report is honest about its data. Before the season it shows last year's numbers clearly labeled as a baseline, then switches to live stats automatically once real games are played. The pregame read translates win probability, SP+ ranks, and Elo into sentences a casual fan can use.

Built dark, bold, and score-board loud rather than corporate, because it lives in group chats next to memes. A quiet Les Brown Design credit in the footer does the lead generation without turning a fan page into an ad.
