Thorsson & Vance

Dark, minimal, quietly powerful

This design was built for Thorsson & Vance, a fictional commercial litigation firm. The audience is business owners and executives who need to feel like they are hiring serious counsel, not shopping for a deal.

Design Decisions

Near-black background with gold type. That is it. The entire page runs on two colors and an enormous amount of restraint. Most law firm websites try too hard. They pile on stock photos of gavels, skylines, handshakes. This one strips all of that away and lets the firm name do the work. "Thorsson & Vance" in large gold serif type on black. The period at the end of the name is a small detail that says everything about the tone.

The subhead is a single sentence about discrete representation for high-stakes business litigation, followed by a line about intellectual rigor, absolute discretion, and a legacy of courtroom dominance. No fluff. No mission statement. Just a clear declaration of what this firm is. Below that, four practice areas are listed with minimal styling: Complex Commercial Litigation, Intellectual Property Defense, White Collar Investigations, Arbitration & Dispute Resolution. Gold dashes as bullets. Nothing more.

The results section uses three large figures: $440M, $1.2B, and "Dismissed." These are not explained with paragraphs. Each one gets a short line underneath. The numbers speak for themselves. This is how you build credibility with executives. They do not want to read your story. They want to see your scoreboard.

The attorneys section shows three names with brief descriptions. No headshots. That is a bold choice for a law firm site, and it works here because the whole design trades on exclusivity and discretion. The page closes with "Secure Representation." and a single button. Gold border on black. One action. The restraint is the message: this firm does not chase clients.
